Hotels - new, refurbishment & access assessments.
Houses & townhouse complexes - new, alterations, additions & access assessments.

Public buildings - including Post Offices, Police stations, prisons,
markets, Officers and NCO Mess and Quarters for the Army, Schools, Community Centres, retirement complexes, Hospitals, Houses and Nurses Quarters for Kwazulu-Natal Dept. of Works,
churches, rehabilitation centres.
Klipbank Bowling Club - sketch to supervision and handover.
Tetra Pak - new warehouse and additions to office block and part of factory- sketch to supervision and handover
Layout and working drawings for Giantkiller - zoning, townships board, etc, medium density cluster housing, individual houses and office park.

Worked as Development Control Architect for City of Durban Development and Planning Department.
Managing the Plans Examination Team (one of 3)
Exercising the Council's powers to act in terms of the National Building Regulations, and City of Durban Building and Advertising By-laws, and other relevant Ordinances and Acts, as delegated.
Making decisions relating to the relaxation of the NBRs
Authorising the commencement of building work prior to the approval of plans.
Making decisions relating to aesthetics, and referring plans as necessary to the Elevation Control Committee (an advisory body) for its comment.
Advising developers of major and/or complex projects on their development proposals.
Handling all correspondence relating to plan approval in my area, including the drafting of letters, minutes, reports as necessary.
Controlling the ongoing planning and development of staff under my control (5 plans examiners)
Site visits and investigations of all matters relating to the above.
Representing the Department at the Review board
Health and Safety representative for my section.
Represented the Director on the Council's Disabilities Issues Working Group.
Kwazulu-Natal Poultry Institute Training Centre on a farm bordering on Pietermaritzburg. This comprised of 7 buildings: lecture theatre, accommodation blocks administration, principals house and recycling of existing buildings as stores, generator room and ancilliary works. It was executed under 3 separate contracts, and funded by the European Union. The concept including the layouts etc were completed according to a masterplan, and the delivery of the project on a tight budget was achieved. |
